| New Year's Eve at Band on the Wall |
| A Mr Scruff party, plus Daddy G of Massive Attack and loads of December club nights
|
Think Band on the Wall and most people think live music. But when the musicians leave the stage, more often than not, the crowd stays around. December's highlights include a DJ set by Massive Attack's Daddy G – he'll be engaging in a dub n bass reggae duel with Blood and Fire's Dom at the aftershow for Macka B's gig. The Swan Street venue has a club night programme that adopts the same ethos as the live music bookings, bringing in the best DJs from around the world and closer to home for some amazing aftershow parties and late night events. The club nights normally start after the concerts have finished – if you buy a ticket for the live music, you often get free entry. And if you've not been at the concert, you can normally just turn up and pay on the door. Next time you're wandering haplessly around the Northern Quarter wondering where to go for a late one, head over to Band on the Wall – if it's a weekend night, there'll be something happening. December's highlights include a DJ set by Massive Attack's Daddy G – he'll be engaging in a dub n bass reggae duel with Blood and Fire's Dom at the aftershow for Macka B's gig. That's taking place this Friday 11 December with the club night starting at 11pm. Tickets are £6 and tickets holders for Macka B get free entry. Another big event is taking place this Saturday 12 December when Festa Brazil will transform the venue into a late night carnival party as part of the Global Grooves weekender. There'll be live music, DJs and samba rhythms over two nights with artists from Brazil, Cuba, and beyond. If you want to get your groove on to some blistering beats, and see epic performances by some of the most exciting dance and drumming groups around at the moment, get a ticket. They cost £6. Then on 31 December, revellers will be treated to Mr Scruff's Keep it Unreal New Year's Eve Party with an all night set of heavy soul, hip hop, jazz, reggae, deephouse, disco, afro, latin, breaks, dubstep, and funk selections until 4am. Tickets cost £23 and it's bound to sell out so act now to get yours. Tickets for all the club nights can be bought online at www.bandonthewall.org or by calling 0161 834 1786. | |
